New Math is a sequence of stories written over a thirty-year period by the expatriate American composer/artist/painter Dick Turner. Illustrated with original drawings by the author they combine observation, fantasy and subtle human analyses with poetry and humor: Imagine Charles Baudelaire and Hans Christian Anderson having a beer with Frederic Brown at Edgar Allen Poe’s house.

The centerpiece is a discussion of Fisher Random, Bobby Fisher's tour-de-force reinvention of the game of chess.​

Each essay contains ideas developed in the other essays in the collection. Ideas discussed include musical space, the concept of normless creation, historical alienation, the question of identity, the artificial and the quest for experience as represented by artificially aged blue jeans.
It is a book of ideas whose goal is to stimulate further thought in its readers.
